Discovering A Passion

If you ask my arts and crafts teachers back from high school, what they thought about my aesthetic sense, I am sure they will draw a blank expression. Frankly speaking I don't even have a big collection of "artsy-craftsy" memories. The only memory from art class is that of learning to draw a beach scene with ducks in the sea, after being admonished and threatened with an 'F' for the class by our art teacher. So it came as a big surprise to me later on in life to discover a real passion for decorating.

The above is from a baby shower we threw for a very dear friend, Sri. I cannot claim full credit for the above. It would just not be possible without the help of my two dear accomplices Swapna and Vaishnavi. The theme was "Chocolates and Pink. All the accessories were made at home by the 3 of us, my mom pitched in by sewing the pillow covers. A lot of old containers in the house were transformed into vases. An old picture frame found its use to be dressed up as wall art. So thus a discovered passion was put to good use.

As per Harsha's request, I have uploaded some pics online.

  1. Hey, Let me first say that this is one event that came together so well that even you would find difficult to beat (note that I am very biased ;)).

Not only have the 3 of you made it very memorable for us, but also set a very tall order for anyone to beat (in terms of the arrangements.) But what put the icing on the cake was that all three of you (and aunty and Salman, Sridhar, Ravi Sufyan and appu and more importantly the two little munchkins (Ishaan and Rayaan)) worked so hard to make it all come together.

That a lot of my friends were amazed that someone would go to such lengths to arrange this for a friend is an understatement. Thanks again so much :)

  3. [Sri]: Well Sri .. u know u are extra special and we had to go that extra special mile for you ... And I agree... it's tough now because I wont have my 2 best accomplices so far... :)

[Harsha]: Thankyou so much ..Most of the ideas originated from other stuff we saw online. Well we really worked hard at it ... I bought the fabrics online .. just 1 yard each (3 types) and then we all worked with the 3 fabrics to bring the look together. I have put the pics up online. You can take a look
